In short

The site uses strictly necessary storage, which you cannot refuse because the site does not work without it, and our own audience measurement, whose data goes nowhere. Everything else — Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta — starts only if you consent, and stops the moment you withdraw that consent.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small file, made up of letters and numbers, that gets stored on the computer, mobile device or other equipment you use to access the internet. The cookie is installed at the request issued by a web server to a browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Edge) and is entirely “passive” — it contains no software, viruses or spyware, and cannot access the information on your device's hard drive.

The law does not refer only to cookies, but to any storage of information on your device — including localStorage, which we use for our own measurement. That is why the tables below cover all of it, not just cookies in the strict sense.

Our cookie policy

This policy covers the cookies and web pages operated by ASKO INTERNATIONAL S.R.L., with its registered office in Bucharest, Sector 6, Calea Giulești no. 121D (referred to below as Asko Group).

What cookies are used for

These files make it possible to recognise your device and present content in a relevant way, adapted to your preferences. Cookies give you a pleasant browsing experience and support Asko Group's efforts to provide comfortable services: for example, online privacy preferences or relevant advertising. They are also used to prepare aggregated, anonymous statistics that help us understand how you use our pages, allowing us to improve their structure and content, without identifying you personally.

Does a cookie hold personal data?

Cookies themselves do not require personal information to be used and, in most cases, do not identify you personally. Personal data collected through the use of cookies may be collected only to enable certain functionality for you. As such, the data is encrypted in a way that makes access by unauthorised persons impossible.

Deleting cookies

In general, an application used to access web pages allows cookies to be saved on your device by default. These settings can be changed so that the automatic handling of cookies is blocked by the browser, or so that you are informed each time a cookie is sent to your device. Detailed information about the options and ways of managing cookies can be found in your browser's settings area. Limiting the use of cookies may affect certain functionality of the web page.

Why cookies matter for the Internet

Cookies are central to the Internet working efficiently, helping create a browsing experience that is friendly and adapted to each user's preferences and interests. Refusing or disabling cookies can make some sites impossible to use.

Refusing or disabling cookies does not mean you will no longer receive online advertising — only that it will no longer be able to take your preferences and interests, shown through your browsing behaviour, into account. Examples of important uses of cookies, which do not require signing in through an account:

• content and services adapted to your preferences — product and service categories;
• offers adapted to your interests;
• limiting the frequency of adverts shown — limiting how many times an advert is shown to you on a site;
• delivering advertising that is more relevant to you;
• measurement, optimisation and analytics — for example, confirming a certain level of traffic on a site, what type of content is viewed and how you reach the site (search engines, directly, other sites, etc.). We run these analyses to improve the site for your benefit.

Security and privacy considerations

Cookies are NOT viruses! They use plain-text formats, are not made up of pieces of code, and so cannot be executed and cannot self-run. As a result, they cannot duplicate or replicate themselves onto other networks to run or replicate again. Because they cannot perform these functions, they cannot be considered viruses.

Cookies can, however, be used for negative purposes. Because they store information about preferences and browsing history, both on a given site and across several other sites, cookies can be used as a form of spyware. Many anti-spyware products are aware of this and consistently flag cookies for deletion as part of anti-virus/anti-spyware scanning and removal procedures.

Browsers have built-in privacy settings, which provide different levels of cookie acceptance, expiry periods and automatic deletion after you visit a given site. Here are a few tips that can help you browse worry-free, with the help of cookies:

• customise your browser's cookie settings to reflect a level of security you are comfortable with;
• if cookies do not bother you and you are the only person using the computer, you can set long expiry periods for storing browsing history and access data;
• if you share access to the computer, consider setting your browser to clear individual browsing data every time you close it;
• install and constantly update anti-spyware applications, to stop the browser from accessing sites that could exploit its vulnerabilities or download dangerous software, and keep your browser up to date at all times.

Why our own measurement does not ask for consent

Our own audience measurement relies on the exemption recognised by the European Data Protection Board in Guidelines 2/2023 on art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, and set out in detail by the French authority in deliberation no. 2020-091. The exemption is not automatic: it applies only if the measurement stays strictly statistical and strictly internal. We have kept to every condition, and we list them so you can check:

• the data stays with ASKO INTERNATIONAL S.R.L. and is not passed to any third party, for any purpose;
• we do not track you across other sites and we do not combine this data with other sources;
• the identifier has a fixed lifetime of 13 months from creation — it is not extended on each return visit;
• audience data is deleted automatically after at most 25 months;
• the IP address is not stored in the clear: it is irreversibly transformed by a keyed cryptographic function before being stored;
• location stops at city level; we do not use precise geolocation;
• we do not build individual profiles and we do not use this data to show you adverts;
• you can object in one click, from the button above, without giving a reason and without losing access to anything.

If any of the conditions above were no longer met, we would move the measurement under explicit consent. Until then, the choice to switch it off remains available to you at any time.

Disclosures/transfers of your personal data to countries outside the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA)

Because some of our service providers are located outside the EU or EEA — this is the case with Google and Meta, who may also process data in the United States — your personal data may be transferred to destinations outside the EU or EEA. In such cases, we make sure the personal data is protected by the following safeguards:

• the laws of the country your data is transferred to ensure an adequate level of data protection (art. 45 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679); or
• the transfer is subject to data protection clauses approved by the European Commission (art. 46(2) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679) — this is the case with the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (the European Commission adequacy decision of 10 July 2023), to which both Google and Meta are certified, supplemented by the standard contractual clauses.

These transfers happen only if you have consented to analytics or marketing.

How to change your choice

To change your cookie settings, use the “Cookie settings” button above, or the one in the footer of any page. Withdrawing consent is as simple as giving it and does not affect the lawfulness of processing beforehand.
